Maine's Fall Foliage Report

Seaplane ride, overlooking Northeast Guide Service.  Look at the fall foliage! 9/25/13

We have Maine's fall foliage report and it's a beauty!  There's still time to visit the Moosehead Lake Region to see the spectacular fall foliage colors.  The Maine Highlands, Katahdin Region and Aroostook County are at 50-70% of peak foliage.  These areas tend to have earlier frosts than the rest of the State of Maine, which causes for foliage colors to begin changing in mid-September.  We anticipate that we will be at peak foliage in the Moosehead Lake Region by this time next week.  So, what are you waiting for, come the the Moosehead Lake Region to see Maine's fall foliage and enjoy all our region offers for outdoor activities.  Here are a few things to consider.
Late September and early October are the best time of year to see large bull moose.  Please keep in mind, that some of the northern regions do have moose hunts in affect, so make sure to be aware.  The Moosehead Lake Region is not hunted for moose until after Columbus Day weekend this year, which is October 14.  Timely enough, Northeast Guide Service plans our Maine Moose Watching tours to continue until the bull moose hunt begins at that time.  We are seeing a lot of moose.  In fact, just this morning, we saw 7 moose on our moose safari.
Another wonderful activity is hiking into Gulf Hagas.  This is Maine's grand canyon and it's a spectacular place to visit during peak foliage to see amazing, cascading waterfalls and the colors of the season.  Northeast Guide Service does have a waterfall hike scheduled this Sunday, September 29 and lunch is included.  To join this guided activity, please call 207-695-0151 to register.
Enjoy a seaplane ride to see the autumn colors, while overlooking beautiful and scenic Moosehead Lake.
September is a favorite month for fisherman.  The only problem is that the season is short.  Don't miss out and come to the Moosehead Lake Region to enjoy fly-fishing on the East Outlet of the Kennebec river or head over to the West Branch of the Penobscot river for that big catch.
Whatever you enjoy doing in the great outdoors, don't miss out on Maine's fall foliage colors and visit the Moosehead Lake region between now and October 14 for a spectacular and colorful Maine vacation.
