Moosehead Lake and Greenville, Maine lie in the heart of your two nation vacation because of our mid-point to both New Brunswick and Quebec, Canada. The Moosehead Lake Region is in the Maine Highlands, where outdoor activities abound. Our mountainous terrain offers easy to intermediate hiking trails, spectacular waterfalls, rivers and streams for trout and salmon fishing, the largest lake in the State of Maine, our infamous Maine moose and world-class whitewater rafting. Whichever Canadian border you choose to head to, whether it be the province of Quebec or New Brunswick, Greenville, Maine is 3.5 hours to each, so you have your pick.
In New Brunswick, Canada there is so much to see and do. Experience its rich history and vibrant culture at museums and art galleries. Whether you want to enjoy sandy beaches, mountains, rivers, New Brunswick's beautiful parks, or the Bay of Fundy, there are endless outdoor adventures. And the food! Experience Acadian inspired food filled with a rich taste - whether it's an oyster bar or french inspired bistro, the cuisine is delicious. For our New Brunswick neighbors to the north, Maine offers an abundance of shopping, superb restaurants and here at Northeast Whitewater, we are thrilled to have our New Brunswick guests join us for white water rafting in Maine!
We are the closest whitewater rafting company to Maine's most centrally located city of Bangor and Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor, Maine. Bangor is conveniently located and draws guests in for shopping, food, fun nightlife, Hollywood Casino and of course the Waterfront Concerts. Bangor's Waterfront Concert series has welcomed many entertainers, Bob Dylan, Barenaked Ladies, Miranda Lambert, and Kenny Chesney to name a few. This summer the entertainment is going to be incredible again, with Dave Matthews Band, Sarah McLachlan, and Lady Antebellum on the list as of now!
Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are only an hour from Bangor and a little over 2 hours from the Moosehead Lake Region, so if you intend to see Maine's rocky coast, whale watch, and eat plenty of lobster this is a must do place to stop along your two nation vacation. Bar Harbor is surrounded by Acadia National Park and at the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, with over 50 square miles of mountains, lakes, hiking, biking, views and dramatic coastline, it is truly a cherished vacation spot.
Quebec City, Canada is like going to Paris, France, but you can drive rather than experience a long flight and jet lag. Again, from our central location in Greenville, Maine it's just over 3 hours to Quebec City from here. You will experience centuries-old architecture and the historic sites. The friendly atmosphere and locals add to the "European" charm. You'll find horse-drawn carriages, street entertainers, singers, and artists.
As you begin to gather information regarding your next vacation, consider a two nation vacation and visit Maine and Canada this year. From Maine's scenic outdoors with abundant wildlife, rivers, local food, events, craft beers, wineries and gracious hosts to the allure of visiting New Brunswick or Quebec for history, heritage, wine, food and scenery, you will taste the cultural differences and have an exciting experience. Please remember to bring your passport. Northeast Whitewater looks forward to welcoming you!
